Siena and its environs...

In Siena everything is history starting from the hills ordered by rows of cypress trees, with rows of grapevines and olive trees scattered as they painted the Lorenzetti in "affreschi del Buon Governo" and as more recently described them Federico Tozzi in his novels set in the houses near the walls of the city as "Il podere" or "Ad occhi chiusi", immersed in rural areas "Cateriniani" by S.Lazzaro to Cerchiaia in which the mother Monna Lapa had to live there. We continue our discussion of our proximity to Porta Romana the city and to speak of contrada di Valdimontone of which the territory belongs, or of the Strada della Tressa where we place that was used as a link between the via Francigena and mills for grinding grain, located along the river Tressa, but we just want to say that the aesthetic feelings are subjective, and only visiting places and taking advantage of the structure you can appreciate the beauty of the place and the service commitment.

The B&B La Verbena is located in an excellent position for visiting the historic center of Siena, which we just mention the "Duomo" and "Piazza Il Campo", and to discover all the many beautiful landscapes, art and architecture of the surrounding area: San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Volterra, Monteriggioni, the "Chianti", the "Crete Senesi", the "Val di Merse," the "Val d'Elsa", the "Val d'Orcia", the Abbey of "Monte Oliveto Maggiore ", the Abbey of "San Galgano" and the "sword in the Stone", etc.

The "Palio" of Siena runs twice a year: on July 2 and August 16, will take part 10 of 17 "Contrade". We advise you to experience the festival in all its ritual and not restricted solely to the race to understand and appreciate the spirit that animates it.
